ENjoyed your review! just to let you kn...Hiya Rick,
ENjoyed your review! just to let you know - Honkeyfinger is playing The Lexington on 20th July...
hope you can make it!

Lexington, 96-98 Pentonville Rd, N1 9JB
Tuesday, July 20 Honkeyfinger, Henry's Funeral Shoe, Toehammer
8pm £7, adv £5
http://www.ticketweb.co.uk

Honkeyfinger: Primal, amped-up and skronked out blues racket from one man band honkeyfinger. Erupting molten fuzz lapsteel, screaming harmonica riffs and desperate bestial howling into a scorching hot cocktail of heavy raw blues power from the bowels of the earth. The Honkeyfinger sound hotwires the electric freak rock of vintage Beefheart, Blue Cheer, ZZ Top and Black Sabbath into a jumping, lurching monster. Boiling up the ghosts of Bukka White, Leadbelly and John Lee Hooker with the bones of the country blues, laced with the acid fried heaviosity of the Butthole Surfers. This is the thick stinking soup that Honkeyfinger serves hot. Henry's Funeral Shoe: The rootsy Welsh duo play a mix of heavy rock and psychedelic blues. "Is Henry’s Funeral Shoe the Welsh answer to the White Stripes? Or to the Black Keys? How about both at once? Aled Clifford is a manly but versatile vocalist whose hero seems to be Steve Marriott, rather than Robert Plant, and he’s a fine slide/boogie guitarist. His brother Brenning keeps the cans a-rockin’ and a-groovin’. With a pronounced bent towards the John Lee Hooker side of the blues fence, the Shoe have an entirely different feel than their more famous brethren" Sleazegrinder Toe Hammer: Time Out says "Terrific, riff-laden, dirtily groovy nu blues and frantic, scuzzy swamp-country from the Stoke Newington headliners - now a trio, but still bass-free - who demonstrate an equal fondness for John Lee Hooker and The Gun Club."deliadansette@hotmail.comhttp://www.thelexington.co.uknoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-429846550012769836.post-80230625224330547222008-07-16T07:10:00.000-04:002008-07-16T07:10:00.000-04:00Hey, yeah I love your site and the quote above... ...Hey, yeah I love your site and the quote above...
