I'm a sucker for well-crafted pop songs that break your heart. I'm a sucker for Prefab Sprout. While they can be awfully twee and so saccharine your teeth hurt, they have also made brilliant, classic pop music (Cher covered a song.) Their album Two Wheels Good (called Steve McQueen outside of the u.s.) ranks as one of my favorite albums of all time.
The song Donna Summer was a b-side on the 12" ep for their hit song When Love Breaks Down (from Two Wheels Good). I found it in a little store in Spokane, Washington and when I first heard it I bet I played it 25 times in a row. It's gorgeous, melancholy, and far too short. Listen:
These posts are made in order to help promote artists that I love and believe in and to hopefully twist yr spindly little bird arm into buying their stuff. Generally speaking the artists that I tend to like are not wealthy and do not usually refer to their home (or tour van as the case may be) as a "crib". So with this in mind please give them your hard earned money. They deserve it or I would not bother letting you know about them. Songs are up for a limited time and once gone they are gone. Got the rights to a file and want it removed? Give me a holler.
