BLOOD RED SHOES

Stephen Moore of The Islington Gazette sez:

14 November 2007
Bush Hall, Uxbridge Road, W12

THE latest boy-girl band to drop off the conveyor belt of punk-blues-rock, Brighton's Blood Red Shoes have garnered many a fan for their propulsive, stripped-down and rough-edged tales of frustration, ennui and - yep - Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Wasting no time, they tear through a vital set at the beautiful old dance hall, full of tracks that will hopefully turn up on their widely-anticipated debut album in the New Year. Steven Ansell thumps the drums so hard he could be pumping the entire audience's blood through their veins for them, while monstrous garage-rock riffs set off a mosh pit that rarely settles. It's simple, brutal stuff, but a few clever song-writing touches mark them out from the crowd of also-rans. Keep an eye out.
